Joe "Ragman" Tarnovsky and his wife, Cecelia, were visiting the Patton Museum at Fort Knox, Ky. in May of this year. When they had finished touring the museum, Ragman spotted Command Sergeant Major Martin who was waiting for a military ceremony to begin. Ragman and Command Sergeant Major Martin exchanged greetings and they both learned they had served in Vietnam. When Ragman mentioned he was with the 240th AHC, Command Sergeant Major Martin immediately recognized the unit and informed Ragman he had buddies in the Special Forces that spoke very highly of the 240th for the manner in which the Greyhounds and Mad Dogs performed their duties in Vietnam. When saying goodbye, Command Sergeant Major Martin presented Ragman his 11ACR coin on behalf of the 240th Assault Helicopter Company.
Before Ragman could leave the Patton Museum after having met Command Sergeant Major Martin, Colonel Swan, then Commander of the 11ACR, also presented Ragman his coin on behalf of the 240th Assault Helicopter Company.
Mad Dogs, Greyhounds and Kennel Keepers of the 240th Assault Helicopter Company, stand tall and walk proud, our reputation in Vietnam precedes us, as we are well known for our dedication and determination to the units we supported.
