Mad Dog Memorabilia, Page Three
This is captured North Vietnamese money. It has been framed so only the back of the bill can be seen. If you look to the right of the star in the middle, you'll see black markings. The front was inked stamped by the 173rd AHC, Robin Hoods, and given to us sometime late 1969 or early 1970.
Don't remember where the Mad Dogs got this war souvenir. We thought it was North Vietnamese money but it was recently brought to our attention by Bob Fischer, HHC & Band DISCOM, 9th Infantry Division, 1969, that this is Republic of Vietnam currency. It is a Mot Tram Dong 100 ( Piaster) note and these bills were widely circulated in Saigon during 1969.
This Mad Dog Patch was worn by the members of the Gun Platoon from early to mid 1970.
This Mad Dog Patch was worn by members of the Gun Platoon from mid 1970 until Ragman left on October 22, 1970. Don't know how long this particular patch remained authorized to wear by the Mad Dogs. The Mad Dog Patch changed in size and shape over the years. What Mad Dog Patch was the most popular? Ask any Mad Dog that was ASSIGNED to the Gun Platoon and AUTHORIZED to wear the Mad Dog Patch and he'll tell you, "The Mad Dog Patch(s) I wore, of course!
Here is another Mad Dog Patch, courtesy of Bill"Wild Bill"Clark, Mad Dog Doorgunner. Do you think the Korean or Vietnamese guy that made this Mad Dog Patch might have been drinking? This Mad Dog Patch is so ugly, he's cute! Check out those eyes!
