Thanks to George Miller of the 200th ASHC, Pachyderms, for informing
me that we didn't have all the units listed that made up the 214th CAB at
Bearcat. On March 1st, 1967, the 200th ASHC was assigned to the Buffalo
Battalion and then later joined the 17th AHC, 117th AHC, 191st AHC, 195th AHC
and 240th AHC and all of these units became the 214th CAB, "the COUGARS." The
Pachyderms had come from Fort Benning, Georgia and was the first helicopter
company assigned at Bearcat, according to George. George was already at
Bearcat when the 191st AHC and 240th AHC arrived in South Vietnam and he said
he flew all throughout that night delivering the gear of the 191st and 240th
from Bien Hoa to Bearcat.
In March of 1969, the 117th AHC, 195th AHC and the 240th AHC (see
patches above) were transferred to the 222nd Combat Aviation Battalion, The
SkyMasters (See patch directly above). The 273rd Assault Support Helicopter Company,
Super Hooks, equipped with the CH-54 Sikorsky Skycrane, made up the fourth
company of the 222nd CAB.
