James Warr's Memorial Page On March 8, 1968, a UH-1C Mad Dog Gunship, tail number 66-00705, was shot down on a mission which immediately killed the pilots, WO1 Guy L. Eisenhart and Captain Charles B. Jilcott. On board the other Mad Dog Gunship which made up the fireteam, the AC landed and Paul 'Frenchy' LaChance, the crewchief, jumped out and ran to the burning, crashed Mad Dog Gunship and pulled the crew chief, SP5 James M. Warr from the burning wreckage. Sadly, three days later, SP5 Warr died from his injuries and burns on March 11, 1968. After 36 years, Paul 'Frenchy' LaChance made contact with SP5 Warr's brother, David, and gave him a first hand account of what happened on March 8, 1968. David allowed us to use the following pictures of his brother to make this memorial for our 240th Brother, James, who made the supreme sacrifice for his country. If any one can give us the name of the doorgunner on SP5 Warr's Mad Dog Gunship, he survived the mission and had to remain concealed in the lz until he was picked up the next day by a chopper from the 240th, we would greatly appreciate your help. We would also like the names of the Mad Dogs on Paul 'Frenchy' LaChance's gunship to add to this memorial and any of our Greyhound Brothers that were on this same mission. David M.
